PUBG games successfully sold 70 million copies worldwide

PUBG is arguably the pioneer who revived the battle royale genre since holding the early access stage in 2017. And who would have thought that this game could be as successful as it is now. Because of its success, the game’s record sales figures and number of active players can even outperform Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

Although currently there are many battle royale genre games that are no less successful like Fortnite and APEX Legends, PUBG seems to be on a different level. Recently PUBG Corporation announced that PUBG has officially sold 70 million copies worldwide. This figure includes sales on all platforms such as Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The success of PUBG is certainly a fantastic achievement considering that the gameplay mechanism of PUBG itself is actually not much different from the original battle royale games such as H1Z1 or DayZ. However, the lesson that can be learned is that marketing is an important factor in the success of a game, and PUBG is one of the proofs.
