Comiket 99 Delayed to 2021
In fact, it had long been predicted that Comiket 99 would be canceled. And it looks like it is. It is now official that Comiket 99 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, an event called ‘Air Comiket’ will be held during the year-end holidays. And the Comiket event is planned to be postponed to the next 2021, at the moment of Golden Week around April or May.
The official statement cited the difficulty of holding events after the postponement of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and the decision to cancel came after a study of the possibility of holding events safely under the coronavirus’ own Response Guidelines. Comiket explained that this was not possible, so they went ahead and canceled the winter event this year.
