Fornite Presents In-Game Video Chat Feature

Fornite

Epic Games, the developer of the Fornite game, has added an in-game video chat feature. This feature will allow players who play Fornite together online, to see each other’s faces. This feature has been launched and is only available for players using PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Through the chat app Houseparty which Epic acquired last year, and has been supporting Fornite’s cross-platform voice chat since last September.

The video chat feature in this game can be done by installing the Fornite Houseparty application on an iOS or Android device. After that, link the Epic account with Houseparty, and activate the “Fornite mode” in the application.

Users can create parties with up to 10 people in the application. However, only 4 people will appear in the game, namely the last active one will be displayed. Livefeeds party will be displayed on the left side of the screen when playing this game.

Apart from PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, additional hardware such as Android and iOS is required to run this video chat feature. This functions as a camera, and the Houseparty application will automatically display the user’s face only. Even the background can be changed to something like colorful.

In addition, when the user’s face leaves the camera, the screen will automatically display nothing but the background. This is done to maintain security and also to keep focused on the game.

Epic Games does not provide further information on whether other games will get a video chat feature like this, or when it will be available on Fornite on other platforms.
