The 2nd CBT is Over, Genshin Impact is Certainly Free!

The beta of Genshin Impact has been running from last March until now, and it will end on April 13, 2021 (today). The game developer has shared a special message towards the end of the beta to thank fans and talk a little about the game’s progress. You can see the full message from the developer below:

I am Hugh Tsai, developer of the Genshin Impact game.

I want to start off by thanking each of you for joining our closed beta, giving us feedback, and being part of our community. Since March 18, we have been living together in Teyvat for more than three weeks. I feel really happy to see the great videos that you guys make on YouTube. I’ve been following your discussions on our forums, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, and Naver (we try to read them all). As game developers, nothing makes us happier than having a community of players who want to help you make better games.

This is the first time I have tried to talk to you in person. English is my second language, so if you find it a little strange, excuse me! My hope is that by communicating with our players we can all make Genshin Impact a better game together (and also help improve English skills lol). It’s very important for me and the team to listen to our players from all over the world who grew up in different cultures. I think the cultural diversity in our community can help us build a more interesting and epic world. It doesn’t matter how different we are or what our timezone is, we can all have fun at Genshin Impact.

We are a newly formed team, but we are always learning. Genshin Impact started as our passion project three years ago. Now we have 500 in-house developers working on this project.

I am often asked if this is an MMORPG. I think the main difference in the Genshin Impact is that the world belongs to YOU. You can decide how you want to play it as a solo player adventure that you experience yourself or that you invite others to play with you wherever it is.

Some of the feedback we received during the closed beta was that there wasn’t enough content after 50 hours of play. We believe in supporting our games for the long term. From the start, our goal was to make Teyvat a huge immersive world that you could explore that would grow and expand over time. We will continue to work hard to create new adventures, new ways to play (dungeons, daily quests, multiplayer). We are also working on a new feature called the homeland system (more details to come).

While we just wanted to focus on the core gameplay in this closed beta, some players raised questions about Genshin Impact monetization. Genshin Impact will finally be launched as a free to play game and we want it to be friendly and fair to players. We will keep you updated via our official website.

The closed beta test is coming to an end, and it’s a new starting point for our team. We have much to do. Thanks again to all the players, we really appreciate all your feedback. Genshin Impact is a very special project for us (and for me personally) and we hope you can join in on this adventure to create something new. Something from this world. Something beyond imagination.

-Hugh Tsai

Even though the beta tester was over, Mihoyo still didn’t provide any information regarding the date / when the full version of this game was released.
