The Last of Us Part 2 Not Available in the Middle East

The Last of Us Part 2

The highly anticipated PlayStation 4 game “The Last of Us Part 2” by Naughty Dog will be released worldwide next month. But recently there have been reports stating that Saudia Arabia and United Arab Emirates will block this game. At the time of publication, The Last of Us Part 2 will not be available in some regions of the Middle East.

Launched by VG 247, PlayStation claims that any game that is missing from stores in a particular region is due to the fact that the game “has been banned by the competent authorities of that country.”

One of the Reddit users, Ghostechful, contacted PlayStation support to find out why they were unable to pre-order games through the UAE PS Store.

It is suspected that this game has many aspects related to LGBT in the game, starting from the protagonist, Ellie, who is a lesbian and one of the characters who is reportedly a transgender woman. The reason for this is the most likely that this game is prohibited from being released in that country.

Even so, Middle Eastern gamers still have an opening to access these games. The trick is to buy in other regions or third-party stores that are likely to keep a lot of stock even with existing restrictions.

The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on 19 June.
