Mario Kart Tour Getting Multiplayer Patch Update

On Monday Nitendo announced that Mario Kart Tour will finally get to multiplayer this weekend, almost six months after its release last September. You can play for up to seven players locally or online starting Sunday, March 8 at 11 p.m. ET.

Mario Kart Tour is a simplified version of Mario Kart which is made for the smartphone version. The whole game is touch controlled, and you don’t even have to press the accelerator to move forward – you just have to swipe left or right to turn and tap to use items.

This game is free to play, but it also has premium currency that you can use to try and get random characters or vehicles to play with. There’s also a premium subscription that unlocks several in-game items and a faster 200cc mode.

Not only that, the premium subscription also gives you access to the first beta test for multiplayer, which took place in December. Nintendo also held a second beta test open to all players at the end of January.

Mario Kart Tour has been a huge success for Nintendo, and is the most downloaded game on iPhone in 2021, beating other free playable mobile games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Fortnite.
