Overwatch League Makes Changes In Season Two
Starting on February 14, 2021.
Blizzard made pretty big changes to Overwatch League in season two. The most impactful thing is the number of matches the teams will go through, where in the previous season each team played 40 times. But not this time, in this second season, Blizzard has allocated each team to play 28 times. This was deliberately decided so that each team and its sponsors could focus more on finding fans and also producing content that could benefit the sponsor. And the teams will play for 4 stages consisting of 5 weeks.
Besides All-Star Match will also be back but changed to the middle of the regular season. This was decided so that each player could get a longer break. For those of you who don’t know, Brandon “Seagull” Larned is having trouble sleeping due to the Overwatch League, and requires him to retire early for personal health.
The 8 new Overwatch League teams have also been divided into two divisions. Atlanta, Paris, Toronto, Washington, DC will join the Atlantic Division. And Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Vancouver will join forces Pacific Division.
