This is the reason Resident Evil Village is not called Resident Evil 8

Resident Evil Village is a new game coming to PS5. However, because this is a continuation series of the game, many think that this is the 8th series. Not only that, Capcom as the developer immediately rejected the response.
In the interviews conducted Famitsu This week, game producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano were asked about it. They say that Resident Evil Village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which ends the story. So, why isn’t this called Resident Evil 8 ? Here is the answer from the producer:
“You can call it Village because there are different characters in it, and we do it so that players understand it easily. So there is no official abbreviation, we are happy if this game can be remembered as Village, “he replied.
Besides that, Famitsu also asked another question which revealed that Capcom had been working on this game for three and a half years.
