As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, All Fortnite Tournaments Are Held Online
The COVID-19 pandemic that is currently sweeping the world is of course very influential on all activities. Likewise, various competitive game tournament events are difficult to hold due to this pandemic. Epic Games is no exception, which is also having a hard time holding a Fortnite tournament.
Epic Games does not appear to be taking any risks with the health and safety of players due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For 2021, all competitive Fortnite events will take place online. It is unclear when or if the event will return to face-to-face format. However, you don’t have to worry about the lack of a Fortnite tournament event.
“Our goal is to hold live tournaments again, but our priority for such events is the health and safety of our players and staff,” Epic Games said in a blog post.
It is not known how long this online tournament will be run. However, seeing Epic Games which pays attention to the health of players and staff, this online event will be held until the pandemic is over.
“With conditions now that are not safe, we do not plan to have face-to-face events in 2021, including the Fortnite World Cup.”
The Fortnite Competition Series (FNCS) will continue next year despite the changes, and will begin February 4 to give players time to learn about the game after the new changes. Epic Games says there will also be more unique weekly tournaments throughout the year to help competitive players stay involved at FNCS.
Hopefully the pandemic will end quickly, friend, there will be many competition events waiting for you!
