Horror Game Review - Outlast II: Sick Satanic

Intro

Outlast II is a horror game that has a very dark atmosphere. Surely everyone is familiar with this one game. Outlast is popular at this time because it is played by many gamers and youtubers.

Outlast II game is a survival horror game developed by Red Barrels, this is a sequel to the Outlast game they released in 2013. This game is released worldwide on April 25, 2017 on almost all nextgen platforms such as PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Plot

In this game we play the character Blake Langermann, a husband and cameraman of your wife Lynn Langermann, where you work as investigative journalists who are tasked with finding a clue about the murder of a pregnant woman in rural Arizona.

At the beginning of the game we will board a helicopter that is flying towards the scene. Blake suddenly woke up from a dream about Jessica Gray. Jessica Gray is Blake’s childhood friend when he was in 4th grade. Jessica committed suicide and the memory haunts Blake to this day. Blake and Lynn talk briefly about Jessica and then record an intro to their news report about the murder.

On the way to the scene, suddenly a light appeared so dazzling that the helicopter fell. While on the ground, they were separated and seen the pilot of the helicopter was barked on a tree. The incident must have been done by a psychopath because it was impossible because the helicopter crashed.

Then Blake walks in search of his wife to a nearby village and he finds his wife Lynn in a chapel, captured by a cult led by “Papa” Sullivan Knoth. Knoth Claims to be a Prophet. When Lynn managed to escape and reunited with Blake, Blake wanted to know what had happened to his wife but he chose not to answer her, all he wanted was to get out of the place. Through a speaker, the Prophet Knoth said that he examined Lynn’s uterus and found that Lynn was pregnant. He also announces that Lynn and Blake’s child is antichrist (Satan) and calls his followers, “Christians” to find Lynn and kill him before the child is born.

At times they run away from them. Then the “Heretics” joined too. They are a different cult from “Christians”. “Heretics” is a different cult in fact, they are hostile to “Christians”. The “Heretics” kill the “Christians” and kidnap Lynn from them, and Blake is left alone in a pitch black forest.

It is important to note here that the villagers see themselves as good “Christians”, but Knoth’s teachings are heretical and advocate murder and blood sacrifice. They also use Christian symbols but their faith is closer to Satanism than Christianity. On the other hand, “Heretics” led by Val is a cult that is indeed satanic, heretical and arguably Antichrist.

From there Blake returned to look for his wife and tried to escape from the pursuit of these “Christians”, also Blake here began to be disturbed by the memory of Jessica Gray constantly bothering him through strange hallucinations.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, nothing has changed from the gameplay mechanism between Outlast II and the first Outlast, all you can do is run and hide from your hunters. but in Outlast II, the setting is different from the First Outlast, if in the first Outlast we run away from crazy people who are set in the hospital, this time in Outlast II the setting in this game is arguably broad because of the countryside where there are houses. citizens. corn fields, forests and even a mine which is certainly very dark and tense when we are there. and oh yes there is also a setting in a school where at the time Blake returns to the memory of Jessica. actually Jessica’s name here makes it difficult for Mimin to move on. sob …

The interesting gameplay of Outlast II is that when you play, some questions appear in your head, and after continuing, instead of finding answers, you will find more questions that might make some people confused (like Mimin who had experienced an overheat looking for answers to everything. question that is in mind * language is gg *). The key is that every document found in the game has an answer to the question that had previously appeared. In addition to this, in Outlast II, we have to record the events that happened there where in the previous game there was no feature. There are 40 Recordings which are recordings of the events that occurred while we were playing this game and 55 Documents that we can take when we play this game too.

Conclusion

In the Outlast II game review this time Mimin can conclude that this game is quite scary and makes ‘tratapan’ (Javanese) if translated into another language which means shocked, confused, shaking like that because the atmosphere is dark and sometimes there jumpscare the tydac mendydyc. Mimin can say that because yesterday a friend tried and he was really scared even though Mimin played this game just so, how come it’s normal? yes because if compared to games like PT Silent Hill, Home Sweet Home, Araya, where the horror atmosphere according to Mimin really ‘got’. Not that it’s not scary at all, it’s just ‘less scary’ according to Mimin. Record, Run, Hide is a very brilliant concept here since the settings we get in this game are more ‘natural’. Panic is when in the middle of a game you run out of your camera battery.

Advantages
+ Non-monotonous settings
+ Interesting plot
+ The story is quite confusing which is a plus for Mimin
+ Nice graphics
+ Good sound FX and soundtrack
+ Mysterious ending

Weakness
– The ‘less’ spooky atmosphere
– The death of the creatures that hunted the blake doesn’t make sense
– Sun Blows?
