Konami's Retro Mini Console Delayed Due to Coronavirus

Konami announced that the launch time of the mini TurboGrafx-16 has been delayed due to COVID-19 or also known as Coronavirus.

Mini TurboGrafx-16, known as PC Engine Core Grafx mini in Europe and PC Engine mini in Japan, is scheduled to launch on March 19, but Konami said production issues caused by the COVID-19 outbreak would cause delays.

Konami said they are working to deliver a new mini console as soon as possible, and the company will provide more details when a new launch time is confirmed.

Shortly before Konami released the statement, the company said that customers who made pre-orders on March 5, 2021, would still receive their consoles on March 19. The latest statement made it clear that all orders have now been pending.

In history the release of this console is the first time it has been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which has had an impact on the video game industry. Also on the hardware side, the Animal Crossing special edition Switch console also experienced a production delay last month.
